Ark Society Home Empowerment Strategy (Ashes) is a project that was designed to improve the Office premises of the FSAs and Ark by ensuring that Ark and the FSAs would be housed in modern buildings that would be owned by the members.
Ashes was designed to be implemented in phases. Phase one entailed acquisition of plots by the FSAs and Ark. Phase two would involve the construction of the ground floors that would be occupied by the FSAs and Ark and phase three would involve a continuation of the upper floors of the occupied buildings.
So far Ark Development Initiative, Ark Wongonyi FSA, Ark Buguta FSA and Ark Werugha FSAs have finalized phases one and two.
Ark Mbololo FSA, Ark Lango Baya FSA, Ark Bahari FSA, Ark Taveta FSA and Ark Mghambonyi FSA have plots that they plan to commence construction in the near future. The other FSAs are all in the plan of acquiring land possibly before the end of the financial year. A completion of this project shall provide a solid asset base that shall enable Ark to attract strategic partners to invest in joint formal projects in Value Addition like milk processing, banana processing and bulking of grains. Such an asset base should enable ark to attract long-term financing to set up small industries that specialize in value addition for the members’ produce.
